Upcoming Kaupapa

We are encouraging the uri of Rākautātahi Marae to register for Wai Ora (Kaupae 3), a level 3 certificate in water resource management and conservation offered through Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi.

Starting July 2026, it will be taught through both weekly online Zoom sessions and noho wānanga.

The course teaches the following:

  • Whakapapa of our waterways
  • Kaitiakitanga and environmental stewardship
  • Mahinga kai and sustainable practices
  • Water monitoring and ecosystem health
  • Mauri, wairua, and the significance of wai
  • Rights, responsibilites, and leadership
  • Water safety and confidence around waterways.

This knowledge and expertise is important to the wellbeing and future of Rākautātahi Marae. This program will be hosted in Hawke’s Bay. It is fees-free for eligible learners.
